The sad epitaph is when I first started practicing in 1973, 80% of what I did was engineering, 20% was permitting. Now the tides have changed, the majority of our efforts are driven by the regulatory process and permitting, and fewer hours are devoted to true eingineering with the goal of saving client’s money in construction.
When I started a wise sage told me, remember the good old days. Some things never change!
