I'm not sure I like this. Granted, I'm not pshrinkillogically trained, but I've been a "is that a book? Gimme, I'll read it!" reader for more years than I care to admit to, and I've picked up some lay pshrinkology here and there - and one thing I remember is that certain attitudes and responses to stimuli get 'canalized' early on, and affect one's perceptions of "similar" situations later. With the sort of scheme described below, I can see a mis-association of pain levels to actual damage, and the adolescent or adult not realizing that the level of pain that they're feeling after that car accident means that they're in a lot more trouble than they've "learned" it really means. This could be un-good. Very un-good. Perhaps even fatally so.
