I do enjoy his books, to the point of being part of the fan club (HMS Seljuk chapter - or are we RHNS Seljuk now? I don't know, I'm Erewhonese). So yes, I'm fully aware of missile pods, which is what these are based off of. For an SDB, the framework could be cut down docking clamps, or it could be specially built (at 5k/pod, perhaps, and 1% total pod tonnage) for huge applications. THe main limitation is fire control tonnage, unless we handwave that as part of the computer systems, since it needs no physical mechanisms.
