Yes - but where did the PCs get this ship? There's still the indicated
costs involved. Your scenario is an opportunity, but the baseline is
that whoever owns that ship made a decision that had a different set
of opportunity costs, and the PCs are merely taking advantage of it.
It's not like they're going to have said "I'm going to get this
configuration so that I can get back into trouble faster..."
Not to mention that the bad guys may be expecting the fast return - or
at least may be ready for it - if the drive is available on the open
market.
