Also the older/smaller carriers that got converted to bombardment
ships in the Pacific.

The covered the flight deck with tightly packed rows of rocket
launchers and ripple fired one or more rows. They had as much
firepower as several battleships until they need to pull back for a
relead.

They were devasting for shore bombardment.
