IMO his endings are 'average' - not bad, but not good either. However, the rest of his
novels tends to be really good, so you're moving through them at a great pace, and
suddenly you hit the end. Bam.

If he wasn't such a good wroter overall, the realatively weak endings wouldn't stand
out so.
