The part I liked best was this;
"Somewhere, someone realized people have the capacity to be idiots. Turns out nobody wants to learn anything when you can gawk at the latest floundering of your most hated celebrity. Nobody wants to have a conversation, because your confirmation bias is inherently flawed and mine is much better."

I remember when I first got onto the old UseNet (early '91, no WWW yet) & rediscovered the old truism about what happens when folks can behave how the wish w/o fear of consequences.

Come to think of it, the TML was a lot like that too, back in the old days...
