Lots of good stuff snipped. I'm not sure if I agree with how long it
will take to get to the Ultra levels of VR; it seems like it was forced
to conform to the tech levels. For example, why use wires when an
anti-grav field would do the same thing and would be very similar to the
grav compensators on a ship?
Beyond that, I see this as being very de-humanizing and laid out the way
it is, this could lead to a complete lack of any sort of morality or
social restraint. I mentioned earlier that VR could be interpreted as
the v-world from Caprica, and this document pretty much confirms that;
just about everything you mentioned was capable there, but with no
surgical interfaces required.
That said, as 21st century me, I don't think the worlds you've described
would be ones I'd like to visit.
Oh...one last thing about the question you raise where people would
think, "is our reality just someone else's virtual reality?", I remember
studying this back in college when I took Philosophy; Epistemology. I
forget the philosopher who proposed it, but his theory was that this
could all be a dream and we could all be players in someone else's
consciousness.
