I've observed, in the games that I've played, & I suppose that it's only natural, that the PC's want *their* ship to be damn impregnable (& fitted w/ the beat gadgets, Ancient esp) while the others are porous are swiss cheese!

It makes it that much more fun when the 'impenetrable' gets 'penetrated'!
