It doesn't seem improbable that he was simply infertile, and that succession law disqualifies descendants that might result from technological intervention of sufficient magnitude -- or that the person in question did not wish to undergo such procedures. Even in humans there are many conditions that result in infertility, and some would require pretty major measures to fix even if our medical technology were perfect. We know almost nothing about Aslan reproductive biology, so there is a completely open field there for possibilities. - Tim
