I know my dad said the flotilla was located on several islands during
the war, and I would suspect they either made the transit under their
own power or were carried by an LST.  They did have a dedicated tender,
IIRC it was named Platypus (though I've only found one record of it, so
the name may be wrong).

One thing he did say that caused pretty much his entire crew to want to
go out and get drunk was at the end of the war the Navy simply torched
them on site.
