As far as the server failing to resolve: I've posted a fairly long message about that; do check your DNS and see if Google is involved - that seems to be where the problem is. While you cannot access the site via IP, the server IP is 216.201.91.52; if you can't ping or traceroute to that IP, you have other issues than just DNS (probably routing issues).
