Depending on the orbital elements, it copuld actually take *more*
delta-V to match orbits with the Earth-crosser.

What you generally save is *time* as you don'thave to go "way over
there" to get it.

As drive "efficiency" increases, delta-V becomes a smaller concern.
so does transit time, but to a lesser extent in some way.
