If you think about it, though, "Canon is for Authors" was always the case -
it's actually implicit in the formulation "IMTU", "In _My_ Traveller
Universe...".

In some ways, this was also acknowledged in the "creation" (really more
like an acknowledgement of the reality) of "Rule Zero", sometimes phrased
as 'The referee is the final arbiter...' and sometimes as 'An ye like it
not, CHANGE IT!'. Which was always part of RPGs, even if Kevin Siembieda
threw a temper tantrum saying otherwise.

Every so often, I post a 'rant' on the topic, deliberately phrased in a
somewhat pompous voice, with Capital Letters when I speak of Key Concepts.
