If you ever even whimsically imagine that someday you might want to think
about considering including material in languages that do not use the Latin
alphabet, pre-emptively code the website in a Unicode encoding, such as
UTF-8. Retrospectively redoing pages in UTF-8 when you started in one of
the ISO-8859 sets is... not trivial. It SHOULD be trivial, but it's not.
Someone with a less phlegmatic temper than I have might easily have gone
from having a full head of hair to being bald, just trying to add the note
(in Chinese) "Read this article in (Traditional) Chinese" to an
English-language page. Not to mention forgetting to change the encoding and
trying to put the entire Chinese translation of the article into a page set
for ISO-8859-1...
