https://techcrunch.com/2023/01/17/royal-mail-cyberattack-disruption-lawmakers/
reckons it was ransomware a la LockBit.

The sheer _number_ of ways a motivated attacker can get malware onto a
contemporary network is... non-trivial (as I'm sure FreeTrav can attest).

A senior executive who feels IT/infosec's rules don't apply to _them_ is
a golden chance for social engineering (ie, conning them), then running
with the opportunity from there.

A similar attack against, say, an X-Boat node or three?

Questions, as always (especially for the GM):

Cockup before conspiracy?  (does give more of a Yes Minister feel if
true - cockup leading to conspiracy)

Whodunwhat?

Cui bono?  (ie, who benefits?)
