To follow on in a Academic vein I can hear my former department head saying "use the simplest, clearest language possible that covers your topic". So maybe follow a specific writing guide? APA. MLA or what ever was the standard for your degree/field. My opinion just use It... It will be clearer in the long run and closer to concise technical writing than your suggestions. -- Evyn
