But it wouldn't. I picture major worlds (high population, tech, and
trade volume) having dedicated container port facilities beyond the
jump limit. A container ship is an open frame structure with
containers locked onto it. These are designed to transfer easily to a
matched assembly on the container port. The ship jumps in, docks
"lengthwise" with the port, and all the inbound and outbound
containers are moved around en masse, in a few operations each
handling hundreds or thousands of containers.

The beauty of this whole scenario is that it can be going on even in
CT without changing the flavor. Big container operations happen out
beyond the 100d limit, while the highport for passenger and
small-freighter traffic is in close orbit around the world. The whole
container-ship ecosystem would be just distant blips on the radar for
a far trader crew.
