I was *just* considering this process yesterday. I have a 2010 VW TDI diesel wagon that I’m going to start having to service on my own. I had a factory manual for my old Honda; but VW doesn’t sell factory manuals to consumers. In fact they don’t sell manuals to *anyone*: they have a documentation network for authorized service providers to get electronic docs for the car. This means that any changes, edits, updates or corrections ‘just appear’, and they don’t have to actually print and distribute anything. In the TU, obviously, ships will need ‘printed’ manuals (likely an electronic set that can be updated from a authorized provider as available.) So we’re in Leonard’s old ship, they get to the service depot and all they have is a first edition copy, one with (like my old Honda manual, which broke in half over the years and lost a few pages there in the middle, covering disassembly and repair of the standard 5-speed transmission) a couple corrupted and unreadable sections, plus (lets be real here, this is a ship from "Shattered Ships of the Fighting Imperium", lets say) none of the later errata releases :-) -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs
