I previously mentioned that I'd like the September/October issue of
Freelance Traveller to be a Theme Issue, with the Theme being "Hivers".
This is because TravellerCON/USA this October will be using that same theme
(and yes, it _is_ happening. Really.).
To that end, I have some specific requests that I really truly hope someone
will step up and write, specifically for that issue. Ideally, they will be
in my hands by 1 August 2021, but I can deal with as much as two weeks
later if they don't need much editing.
First... Cover art. Any sort of cover-worthy image focussing on Hivers will
be good. I release the PDF as both US Letter (ANSI A, 8.5" by 11") and ISO
A4 (~8.3" by ~11.7"), so if you make it 8.5 by 11.7 with cropping area on
all four edges, it will be fine for both covers. Please try to keep it
between 150 dpi and 300 dpi, with the latter being preferred. I can
downsample higher pixel densities, but I can't upsample low density.
Next: There are two sourcebooks that I am aware of that focus on the
Hivers: the Classic Traveller _Alien Module 7: Hivers_ and the TNE _Aliens
of the Rim 1: Hivers and Ithklur_. I'd like (separate) reviews of both,
please! If anyone knows of any other Traveller source material (from any
publisher, canonical or not) that focusses on the Hivers, Ithklur, and/or
Gurvin (another important race in the Federation), reviewing that would be
welcome, too!
One or two adventures for Hiver characters, or where Hivers are the
principal NPCs (whether protagonistic, antagonistic, or enigmatic), would
also be welcome!
Anything else that you can think of for Hivers would be of interest, and
would contribute to the theme, but the above would be sufficient. Please,
have at!
