Overall it took 4 weeks for Nikki et al to rebuild the busted armour shell while in dock. 12k of docking fees, and another 100-odd k for the mortgage. Old Joe chased up a cargo as the armour repairs finished - 30 tons of industrial (not jump-drive) grade lanthanum to Terra. With cargo and fuel loaded, fees paid, was time to scarper. Jump to Terra was rather routine, with Sol's 100D dropping them out approx 200D from Terra. There was a minor WTF when they found out Phoenix Orbital was _uncongested_. Badass Badass-Moustache contacted them while en route, with berth and freight pre-arranged. Freight turned out to be 60 dton of assorted machine tooling to Calgary, along with a manufacturer rep (travelling high passage) and two technicians (travelling middle). 240 kilosolars for the freight (via letter of credit - again, the players are liking these sort of background slice-of-life details) and 25 kilosolars for the noisy freight was a good deal when The Lunatics didn't have to chase it up themselves. Nikki grumbled about lack of time to chase up spec cargoes as Old Joe loaded the freight. While waiting for the pax to lob, El Capitane gave Curly the following ... umm... "decoration" : https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/612927701258469378/762610101583872000/Drake_Star.jpg With pax finally lobbing and then loaded aboard, fuel delivered and re-refined (Nikki didn't want to get blamed for a bad-fuel-related misjump - Easy Frag started stating this from this jump onwards), and docking fees paid, Das Boot lifted and boosted for Sol's 100D. The jump to Junction was routine, apart from Curly mucking up the exit. "Cheaper than last time we had an oopsie." - El Capitane As Junction had no highport, they had to land (always fun, especially this close to Procyon), refuel, pay fees (the usual 22k), lift and scarper. Jump to and transit through Hades was routine. On the outbound jump to Calgary, Nikki managed to critfail her J-drive roll but (thanks to the Jump rules I've adapted, where _trained_ operators have a chance of catching their critfail - poor sods defaulting or relying on JOAT are out of luck) caught her error - Das Boot made it safely into jump after a short delay. After the formalities of docking, EC led a mass exodus to a convenient highport boozer. Nikki found out she couldn't cash the machine-tools letter of credit. Figuring Das Boot had outrun the payment, Nikki amused herself chasing up spec cargo in lieu of the captain's proposed bender. After the 3-day piss up, EC apparently won this bet: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/612927701258469378/762622292785102859/rth.gif Nikki found 3 dton of heavy metals for 60 megasolars - she had to pass on that one. I had the players in stitches for Nikki's next attempt (and recycling from a previous GT game, where I got the same reaction): "Upon directly checking the cargo, you are dragged to the horrible, undeniable conclusion: My God... it's full of... goon". Goon being cheap, usually cask, wine that has the major benefit (especially for fairly impecunious students, secondary or tertiary) of having a high drunk to cash ratio. 7 displacement tons of the stuff, which Nikki managed to haggle down from 52.5 kilosolars to 42 kilosolars. "I'm already drunk, I can't make this decision" - El Capitane Post-bender, Old Joe chased up some freight. Nikki rather felt 25 dton of unpalletised breakbulk cargo to Barnard was taking the piss. That stuff wouldn't be loaded or unloaded quickly. She was less cheesed off with 26 dton of palletised breakbulk, also to Barnard. 158 kilosolars for the run would pay most of the bills. As Herr Sweep booked off to inspect his eyelids, he said El Capitane had pushed the bender out to the 10 full days. "Don't crash the ship, Wombat - I want to be here when that happens". - Herr Sweep Jump to Midway was routine, as was the ocean refuelling (accompanied by boatloads of snark). Jump to Prometheus was also routine, but Curly's approach to Prometheus Orbital set Eddles to grumbling. "I rolled with advantage - I got 3 on the bloody dice. You rolled with disad - and got TEN!" - Eddles Nikki cashed a bank draft and managed to haggle 120k as an advance - the rest was in flight and thus unavailable. Nikki then found a buyer for the GOON and haggled them from initial $36.7k offer up to $42k. She had more luck _finding_ spec cargo (crit success - three lots): Old Joe somehow sorted out a short-term loan for a mere 5 M$ to fund Nikki's further adventures in speculation. 4 dton of specialised minerals - haggled down from 3.3 M$ to 3.0 M$ even. 3 dton industrial radioactives - haggled down from 240 k$ to 210 k$. 12 dton industrial metal - haggled down from 720 k$ to 630 k$ (and according to my notes, they rented warehouse space to stash said cargo on Prometheus for time being). Nikki was having a blast. Cargo loaded, fuel and fees had been paid, time to scarper to Barnard. Transit to Barnard was relaxingly routine. Nikki, the day after landing, started looking for spec cargo (the rest of the crew understood - they all have their addictions). Her first pass turned up a 25 dton lot of assorted Vilani spices (the vendor didn't speak much Bilanidin, but bloke he bought them from did). With a rough "list" price of 525 k$, Nikki didn't bother haggling the offered list price of 210 k$. The second 5-day pass turned up (to general luz) a very-well-travelled 4 dton of jump-drive grade lanthanum. "Bloody hell, this metal's been as far afield as we have!" - Easy Frag Rather than trying to haggle a direct purchase, Old Joe floats the idea of carting the lanthanum and vendor (one Marko Andreyevich DIGADICH) to Terra for a percentage of value. Marko Andreyevich was happy to play ball, eventually settling on 2x freight payment + 1 high passage to Terra (ie, him), plus 3% of whatever sale value was achieved with the PCs' help. The PCs wanted to make a side trip to Barnard - Digadich was happy to add an extra 10 days onto his trip, but wasn't going to pay any extra. After paying fuel and docking fees, I ended the session there. --
