Ah, but for many ships the speed of refining incoming liquid to hydrogen is much slower than the rate they can take in that liquid, especially if they're just pumping water in from a lake. So if they can just take on water and refine it as they move out to the jump point (and in jump if it's for a second or third jump) it's quite a time saver. -- Rupert Boleyn <xxxxxx@gmail.com>
