Ah, well, there you go.  If it's canon, then it's canon.  Can't argue
with that!
This, and all other cases where The Rules flat-out contradict each
other, is easily resolved by turning to the Master Rule:
"Because (I/The Rules Say So)".
Whenever there a conflict, or something doesn't seem to make any sense,
simply say: "Because."
If your players don't find this to be a satisfying answer, that's
/their/ problem, isn't it?  :p
