I don't know whether it's got anything to do with hemispherical differences (though I doubt it, just because of _where_ the cyclonic storms form), but the premise was based on some world-building of unknown accuracy by Baen author Tom Kratman, in his Terra Nova series. My Kottabhumi is, for all intents and purposes, his Terra Nova, as far as weather/climate is concerned, and his worldbuilding included the increased reliance on airships instead of jets. I thought it was an interesting idea, and wanted to see what some of our gearheads could come up with for airships, which don't seem to have been given much space in prior Traveller world-building. >On Mon, Mar 2, 2020, 20:15 Vareck Bostrom - bostrov at icloud.com (via tml >list) <xxxxxx@simplelists.com> wrote: > >> How much less of an axial tilt is it? >> >> Im also not following as to why less severe seasonal weather changes >> would lead to zeppelins being more reasonable to use over long distances. >> There would still be weather, after all. >> >> I cant find the research this is based on, but interesting blurb at any >> rate: >> >> https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/23degrees/2011/03/what_if_the_earth_had_no_tilt.html >> >> >> >> On Mar 2, 2020, at 4:45 PM, Jeff Zeitlin <xxxxxx@freelancetraveller.com> >> wrote: >> >> ... lead to different worlds, when you're doing worldbuilding. >> >> Here's a different world; I'd like your help with something in it: >> >> Kottabhumi is a garden world, a near twin to Earth.
