At least 3,000 generations and possibly up to 15,000 generations.
Much of that being breeding under the direction of intelligent
selectors who have significant control over life, death, and/or
ability to reproduce in each generation depending upon the
desirability of the results.

Human societies could in theory self-select to this extent, but I
would not expect them to do so.  Failing direct genetic engineering,
it would likely involve selecting for their children to have ever more
extreme variations, killing or casting out those that are too normal
to the original type.
