FWIW I think of Brubek's as the latter-day equivalent of Outback
Steakhouse (or Steak-and-Ale, for anyone who remembers them).
Perhaps a bit upmarket from Bennigans/Chilis/Applebees, and
certainly down-market from Palm/Mortons/Ruths Chris.

Apologies to non-US readers, I no longer know of any equivalents
in other cultures, suggestions welcome. Actually, how common *are*
franchised non-fast-food restaurants in RL outside North America?

Thought for discussion: just how important are 'familiar surroundings'
to a spacer? My answer (which is basically ducking the question) is
that 'it depends on the spacer', but I might venture an opinion that
Vilani culture heavily favours the tried-and-trusted, and there will
only be a few crew who will really seek out 'authentic local
experiences', at least not after their third or fourth trip. Also
that such people will either be regarded as young-and-inexperienced
by their peers, or plain crazy. Discussion?
