Given that most worlds in the 3I were originallt settled by racial Vilani along w/ their self-imposed homogenous culture, but then extensively settled by racial Solomani during the 2I, then throw in the Long Night followed by reassertion of imperial comtrol by the 3I, I think you'd have a lot of lee-way to set things up (surprises incl!) for a fine adventure.
