Have you ever looked at Warhammer 40k?  Most of the races in Warhammer Fantasy have equivalents in 40k.  Though I think the Squats are still MIA, as they have been since 40k 2nd Ed.  Of course there are other races which have little or no fantasy equivalent.

Realistically there is no reason why this couldn’t be largely compatible with Traveller, especially if they’ve “Sailed across the Western Sea” (aka migrated) to a area that is largely unexplored/undocumented.  Or perhaps as the race has aged, their empires have receded, due to lack of interest in such things.  In fact in that scenario, humans might come across one of their old outposts, and the “Elves” show up as the result of an ancient alerting system letting them know there were visitors.  They don’t want others to have access to their Tech.
