One thing to remember is that a 'small' ship of say 400 DTons will mass
2,000-4,000 tons, and in CT have a crew of 5-6 (a Type M merchant) to 18
(a Type T patrol cruiser), while in TNE they had crews of 9 and 19
respectively. That implies a fair bit of automation - the warships have
crews about 1/10th as large as those of 2-4kTon frigates today, and
about the same per ton mass as USS Zumwalt does.
