Yes, but it's best if there isn't a "hard tie" to the non-OTU setting -
that is, ideally, someone reading the article about your religion could,
without much 'hacking', drop it into their own 3I campaign (or non-3I
campaign with a different background from yours). That's a pretty low
barrier, in reality; about all that I can think of off the top of my head
that it would 'break' would be religions in which more-or-less open
psionics play a significant role. And even those can fit in, somewhat, in
(say) the TNE/TNE1200 Deneb/behind the Claw setting...
