tccheersPlease feel free to criticize my maths/math or my design or my rules understanding! So is it reasonable for my 60kph savannah critter (maximum sprint) to have a 'speed' of 33m? (100m / round, 1000m / minute and 60kph). None of the other examples in the book are close to this (even the flyer), so are they looking at average speeds or do they just not have fast examples, like, say a cheetah? {Sidenote: I've been surprised to find out how fast giraffes can sprint!]The Thunderer (on p.83) has a 'speed' of 10m, so I make that 30m per round and thus 300m per minute and thus 18kph (just over 10mph) and is described as a "slow, ponderous triped". Perhaps when it's roused it can do a short distance a bit quicker.Q: I'm assuming that this is a 'top' speed and not necessarily sustainable for long periods - is that what others use? Or should I be doing a normal walking speed (or ambling in the case of the critters I'm on now).Q: is that how others work it out or do you limit it to one 'move' per round and thus six seconds?A combat round is six seconds and you can have three minor actions in a round, so presumably the 'speed' is the distance an animal can move in two seconds. The figure given in an animal stat block is it's 'speed' but is actually a distance just to be confusing. The rules say (p.80) that it's "how far the animal can move in a single combat round with a minor action."Hi there,Ok, it's a Sunday afternoon and maybe I'm tiredness frazzled, but I'm struggling a bit with Mongoose Traveller 2nd edition animal speeds.----- The Traveller Mailing List Archives at http://archives.simplelists.com/tml Report problems to xxxxxx@simplelists.com To unsubscribe from this list please go to http://www.simplelists.com/confirm.php?u= gi277fSUTkyFeQYIkUkn6zf5f3dXCa 4l
