That's only sort of true. The problem is magical tech that violates laws in *useful* ways. There's really no way to get fast interplanetary or interstellar travel that doesn't involve quite high energy levels. The minimum for just reaching orbit from the ground is the equivalent of around 75x ship's mass in explosives.
