Yeah, I liked that scene.

Perversely, it also reminded me of the opening scene that preceded every episode of the old-west cavalry comedy 'F-Troop'!
(Anyone remember that old chestnut?)

The scene was progressively reduced in length as the season/s progressed so it was the early eps that match up the best.

Using BPs for survival reminded me of the early scene in Tangos with Dingos when Kevin Costner’s character, shot in the leg, charges forward on his horse hoping to be killed (he didn’t want to be alive but lose his leg). The rest of his troop thinks it’s a real charge, rush the enemy, and are victorious.

 

Afterwards, the General in charge tells his person physician to treat Costner, since his “bravery” won the skirmish.
