Sorry, I wasn't thinking... of course they do because methane is a hydrocarbon.

What I really meant was are there other gases that don't have hydrogen but might be available on a planet in the system that could be used instead... that's really where I was going.

Although it is also good to realize any hydrocarbon with Hs in it that could be broken down could give you fuel.

        Methane has more hydrogen per unit that water does. If you've got a safe source
of methane or ammonia it works as well or better than water as a hydrogen
source. Methane = CH4 and ammonia is NH3 so decomposing that through the fuel
processor should be as easy as water, if there are different things as "waste"
products (carbon black and Nitrogen gas).
