You are at a party on military installation. The power goes out while the party is in full swing. You feel this is scandalous and raid all of the nearby emergency lights to build a power supply for the stereo. You meet a nice and compatible individual and you borrow the room of a cadet officer that is absent (and you lock the door). Someone calls the MPs that a party is going on because its so quiet otherwise. They arrive and ask where the individual that took down all the emergency light batteries went. They rattle at the door, but by convention, doors are only locked when the cadet is away, so they assume no one is there. You have a fun evening.

You are a tourist in a large city that surrounds a key naval base on a beautiful tropical island. You want to see the interpretive center commemorating a famous naval conflict and attempt to drive to it. Using GPS that is imprecise, you turn into a line of cars heading to a security shack. A formidable looking young man in combat skinsuit with a semi-rigid vest and a sidearm is stopping each car, asking for ID papers, comparing the person in the car to the picture, and saluting them as they pass through (in most cases). You get to the gatekeeper and he says 'Are you a bit lost?' (which is better than 'get out of the car, you are under arrest') You explain where you are going and he gives you painstakingly precise and unambigous directions starting with 'you will turn your vehicle around my shed and return in the other lane to the civilian road'. You wish to stay unperforated, so you choose to comply. You find the memorial to a lost Imperial Battleship and it is truly moving.

You are participating in a larger exercise with many other units (good Merc event, although this could also happen on any overland movement). You reach a medium-depth river. You find 20 nearly-new and wet life preservers. You see no evidence anywhere in sight. Do you need some life preservers?

While you are on an exercise (even more fun if it happens in a full fledged military action), another section in your unit wants to go and get chow, so they lock their service weapons (including light support weapons) and ammunition inside their AFV. When they return, there is a trail (needs a tracked or wheeled AFV) leading away. This will trigger a significant investigation (and leave a platoon a squad down) that will never locate the missing vehicle and arms.

Some anti-tank launchers have a sizeable 10m back blast. The gunner/missileer calls 'Backblast Clear?' and the assistant gunner/loader replies "Clear" after looking behind. The shot happens a few seconds later. Meanwhile, an unwise unit member has decided to cross behind the AT team. The trauma team could not revive the cooked goose.

You are on a winter exercise. You have been tasked as a cadre NCO to lead a platoon of locals through some winter movement exercises. They are from a warm local. They are from a military where an NCO only speaks when spoken to. You warn them against using a frozen small river as a path given the possibility of weak spots in the shallowest areas and a temp of -25C. The local Major tells you he'll ask for your opinion if he wants it. You warm up your comms and lay a precautionary call to the nearest medevac to be standing by. Inevitably, one of the locals goes through the ice and gets soaked. You get his clothes mostly off, tuck him into a sleeping bag, and advise the Major that what he needs is to have someone get mostly undressed and climb in the sleeping bag with him to give him their body heat. NOBODY will do that.  The local soldier dies. Your CO is furious, but the local Major calls it "Acceptable Losses". (US Georgia NG in Canada for training)

Hello all,

Having a retired military id you drive onto a military base as a short cut to your place of employment and at a traffic signal waiting to make a turn when the vehicle breaks down before the signal changes allowing you to turn. You jump out and direct traffic until the signal changes again. With the help of another driver you move the vehicle to the side of the road and have to barrow the other driver's comm unit to contact the person you where meeting with to find out the meeting was cancelled.

Another person called base security and a patrol car rolls up. Both drivers continue on their way and the officer allows you to barrow his person comm unit to call for a tow vehicle. You are told that you will need to be at the closest gate to get the tow vehicle on base.

Hiking to the gate you have to barrow another comm unit and contact the tow company to find out where the tow vehicle. Ten minutes later the tow vehicle arrives and ten minutes later you are heading back through the base to return the car to the place you are staying. The tow vehicle driver tries using the installed GPS device but it does not have the roads for the base. You direct the drive through the base back to where the GPS works again.

Upon arriving at your destination you have to run into your room to get the needed information for the tow driver. While inside the owner of the place you are staying returns. The owner is an older lady that stands about 1.5 m tall who jumps out of her vehicle confronting the tow vehicle driver. As you come out of your room you here the lady say "What the hell do you think you are doing on my property?" The lady is known as Mom to everyone. You call out "Mom, its okay the driver just brought my car back here to be fixed." Mom. calms down and the driver leaves with a smile.
