My 4th grade teacher (who spent her summers traveling on cargo ships, way back when that wasn’t so well known) taught us the rudiments of that dance…I'd forgotten all about it until just now. Another of the reasons she’s still my favorite teacher
I ever had (the main one being she took a bored-with-reading-at-his-grade-level kid aside and gave him her copy of ‘The Hobbit’ to read, and sent me off with that while the rest of the class did it’s own reading. It was like discovering an entire new world
