That's a cool idea. I like the idea the Grandfather twiddled with
systems on a grand scale to increase the number of habitable systems
and to force interesting places in space.

Well, nobody actually knows anything about G'father in-game. When players begin to expound upon him and his machinations - out of game of course - I tend to smile enigmatically, then if questioned reply: "Make an Education roll." If the player succeeds, I inform them thusly: "All that the experts can agree on is that the arrangement of the jump space grid displays a discernible pattern."
Does G'father actually exist IMTU? Who knows? I've never played out that particular adventure series . . .
