We prefer to register Class B IP addresses with the publisher(s); this
restricts access to our own registered users, within our own campus
domain name.
In exceptional cases (i.e., that's the only way the publisher will deliver) we
issue a UID and PW to registered library users, but of course that's much
less secure, in the sense that we can ask our users not to share the
information, but we can't actually prevent them doing so.
>From our point of view, the real problem is when the publisher requires
registration of both an IP range AND a UID/PW - we try to avoid these
titles, not always successfully!
