For those of you with access to the online edition of the _Chronicle of

Basically it says a team of ten librarians from leading research
universities have taken
aim at the one journal specifically, in the war against the high price of
commercial
journals in the sciences, targeting the academicians that edit the journals.
They
cite the "padded contents" of this particular title and the fact that it has
an "unimpressive
impact factor" regarding citations by fellow scholars.

An interesting turn in the ever ongoing war on pricing, methinks.

BTW, I have no idea why they linked it with the NYT piece on the comic
novel ad.

HOT TYPE: "The New York Times" canceled an unusual ad campaign
for a comic novel by Boston University's Leslie Epstein. ...
University librarians say the editors of the "Journal of
Molecular Structure" are padding the costly periodical.

For him that stealeth a Book from this Library, let it change into a serpent
in his hand and rend him. Let him be struck with Palsy, and all his Members
blasted. Let him languish in Pain crying aloud for Mercy and let there be
no sur-cease to his agony till he sink in Dissolution. Let Bookworms gnaw
his Entrails in token of the Worm that dieth not, and when at last he goeth
to his final Punishment, let the flames of Hell consume him for ever and
aye.
