We divide our serials by alphabet, A-M, N-Z, and each day staff members
are assigned a stack. At the end of the month when I run claims
reports, our staff checks to make sure that items didn't slip through
without getting checked in or incorrectly. We use Innovative
Interfaces. We don't measure the time it takes to check material in,
but we do follow up each month and our error rate has gone way down
since we became automated and began checking the dept.'s claims at the
end of each month.

I'm interested in hearing from other serials units where performance
for checkin staff are based on a checkin rate. Do you have any
performance measures for the number of pieces staff can checkin
per hour? Are you using an automated checkin system? If so,
which one.
Thanks in advance,
Donnice
