** Promotion and Management of Electronic Journals **

One-day seminar: Thursday 28 October 1999
Scientific Societies Lecture Theatre, London, UK

Stimulating the use of e-journals:
the challenge for libraries, publishers and aggregators

If you believe that e-journals are no longer the wave of the
future but a key resource to be promoted and carefully
managed, then this latest UKSG one-day seminar on
promoting and managing access to electronic journals
will provide a practical opportunity to share experiences
with some of the leading practitioners from the library,
publishing and aggregator communities.

Electronic journals are moving from being the experimental
adjuncts of paper subscriptions to being the primary means
of campus and organisation wide access to scholarly work.
All players in the information chain are grappling with the
practical issues and choices surrounding the management
and promotion of electronic journals. Should access be
managed via the OPAC? Can an aggregator meet the
needs of the multidisciplinary organisation? How can the
A&I and other gateway options be best integrated into
your service? How should the publisher, intermediary and
librarian promote and stimulate the use of electronic journals?

This seminar will bring these issues together and offer an
opportunity to both learn from the experience of leading
practitioners from the library, publishing and aggregator
communities, and discuss what works and does not work
from a practical perspective.
