Systemwide Library Initiatives

The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking an
experienced library professional to participate in the development and
administration of leading-edge systemwide library projects.

Under general direction of the Director of Library Initiatives, the
Library Services Specialist will: work with campus library liaisons and
vendors to update and monitor quality control of the Unified Information
Access System union catalog database; interface with CSU Database
Management Task Force, library liaisons and vendors to resolve problems
and conflicts; recommend and oversee standards for data storage and access
in partnership with committees and task forces; and recommend, develop,
implement and evaluate new services and database enhancements.  The
Library Services Specialist will also support other projects of the CSU
Library Resources Initiative by coordinating project-related task forces
and committees; communicating project status; organizing project-related
training and development; and participating in systemwide technical and
administrative committees and project planning and evaluation.

This position requires: Bachelor=92s degree; experience with integrated
library automation systems as well as MARC format cataloging and
applications; effective oral and written communication skills; and the
ability to work independently as a team-member of a large, complex
organization in a changing technological environment.  Master of Library
Science degree or equivalent preferred.
