Holdings Maintenance with VTLS - Please Help Lorella P. Correo 09 Sep 1999 22:38 UTC

     Hello!

I'm wondering if anybody in the list is also having problem in
maintaining the holdings of their database. We have to delete all
check-ins and do the compression of holdings manually (i.e., if we
have 100 check-in items we have to delete each of the 100 items).
This really takes up a lot of time, specially for our newspapers (we
have more than 90 titles, and some even have duplicates). And this is
even aggrevated by the fact that everytime a issue is checked-in, an
extension record of the tag 863 appears to reflect the newly
     checked-in item.

Because of staff changes, newspaper holdings have not been maintained
and we still have the discarded issues reflected in our OPAC. We're
using VTLS and, according our Systems Librarian, there's no way to do
     batch deletion of check-in items.

If anyone has similar experiences, please share how you handled this
problem. Please reply to me directly.

     Thank you.

     Regards,
