SERIALS ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN
Position Description: Under direction of the Team Leader for Serials
Acquisitions, the Serials Acquisitions Librarian will provide support for
the broad range of acquisitions activities for serials in all formats,
with an emphasis on support for acquisition of digital information
resources, including: manage complex order and receipt issues; supervise
paraprofessional and student employees on the Serials Acquisitions Team;
coordinate and maintain access to new and continuing digital information
resources, in consort with colleagues in technical services, public
services, and systems; in consultation with collection management staff,
coordinate the ordering and renewal of electronic resources; collaborate
with cataloging teams to ensure public access and record maintenance of
electronic resources; maintain central repository of information on
licenses and other information regarding the acquisition of digital
information; in collaboration with collection management staff, provide
support for management of established licenses and contracts, license
compliance, and record keeping for digital acquisitions; work with
appropriate staff to facilitate access and contract issues; communicate
within the Libraries about digital materials acquisition, and monitor
trends in electronic publishing and licensing; and assist with vendor
negotiations as needed and as appropriate.
Qualifications
Required: MLS from an ALA accredited library school; a strong interest in
or experience with acquisition of electronic resources; proven analytical
and problem solving skills; strong interpersonal, communication, and
organizational skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively;
flexibility; ability to prioritize work to ensure that departmental and
library goals are realized; and, a proven commitment to professional
growth and development.
Preferred: Serials and/or acquisitions experience in an academic or
research library; experience with an automated acquisitions environment;
reading knowledge of two languages in addition to English.
Salary and Appointment: Appointment will be made at the rank of Librarian
I or Librarian II and salary will be based on relevant experience and
educational background and will be competitive with peer
institutions. The salary range for this position is $30,000 to
$35,000. The University offers an attractive package of benefits
