Subject: Correct 362

I appeal to my fellow serialists to clarify how to put a multiple frequency
statement into proper form for AACR2. The record I am working on is OCLC
1606055 for Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society. It is a serial
record and the 362 is in old format. I know how to change to AACR2 format
for one series of volumes, but this record includes a 2nd and 3rd series.
In the original, each series is separated by a semi-colon. I checked the
Bibliographic Formats and Standards and the AACR2r manuals, but neither of
them shows exactly this kind of series.

Original: v.1-35 (no. 1-819) Jan. 1865-Jan.1903; 2d ser., v. 1-54, Sept.
1903-Apr. 1953; 3d ser., v. 1- Mar. 1951-

I would change it to the following: Vol. 1 (Jan. 1865)-v. 35 (Jan. 1903)
= no. 1-817 ; 2nd ser., vol. 1(Sept. 1903)-v. 54 (Apr. 1953 ; 3rd ser.,
vol. 1 (Mar. 1951)-

I have two specific questions. Should there be a comma after the "ser." in
each succeeding series? and how should the volume abbreviation be handled
in each succeeding series? "vol." "Vol." or "v."?

Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

TIA
