Subject: Position available - Head of Technical Services
North Dakota State University Libraries seeks to fill the Head of
Technical Services position. This position reports to the Associate
Director, but works both independently and collaboratively as part of a
team to effect change in an ambiguous and dynamic environment.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: provides leadership for the planning,
development and administration for the Technical Services Department.
Manages the selection, training, supervision and the development of
departmental personnel (11 individuals). Coordinates and evaluates the
activities of the Acquisitions and Cataloging units. Performs the role of
principal cataloger. Contributes to the service mission of the Libraries
by coordinating the public service work of the department and working at
the Reference Desk. Participates in the planning, implementing and
development of the goals and objectives of the NDSU Libraries.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: M.L.S. degree; specialized subject knowledge in
cataloging, serials and acquisitions; excellent communication,
interpersonal, and decision-making skills; five or more years technical
services experience; three or more years experience in staff supervision.
