Salary range: $29,738 - $46,429
The Library of Virginia is seeking a Serials Cataloger in the Technical
Services Branch of the Collection Management Services Division. The
incumbent will catalog serials and oversee the serials support and current
serials programs by applying considerable knowledge of national and local
standards to ensure accurate and timely cataloging and processing of the
published serials materials so that users may have effective access to
them.
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in library science
from an accredited institution; will have considerable knowledge of
standard library operating procedures, automated library systems and
on-line database searching tools, bibliographic utilities, local library
systems, and of cataloging, AACR2, LCSH, LC classification and authority
control; knowledge of bibliographic sources and research techniques;
demonstrated ability to train and review the work of library assistants
and support staff, to do detailed work, and to work both independently and
as a part of a team. An equivalent combination of education, training, and
experience may substitute.
