Are you talking about the acquisition status code? as in union lists?
The "4" is for open entry (currently received), "5" is for a closed
entry, subscription cancelled or ceased publication, and the "0" is for
Information not available. That's according to ANSI Z39.42-1980, and
there have been some more recent standards, but I think these values for
the acquisition status code field are still in use.  I could be wrong --
it's happened before -- can one of you who is more up-to-date give any
further updates?  Back when I was editing our CSU system's union list I
could have answered with far more confidence!
