ALCTS Serials Section Journal Costs in Libraries Discussion Group and
Research Libraries Discussion Group announces a joint meeting for the 1999
ALA Annual Conference.

Place:  Westin Canal Place, Ballroom 1

Date and Time:  Saturday, June 26th from 2:00 to 4:00

Topic: Choices in the Information Marketplace

The Serials Section Journal Costs Discussion Group and the Serials Section
Research Libraries Discussion Group are holding a joint meeting to discuss
the complex choices that exist in the information marketplace as we
transition from print to electronic and as the cost
of serials continue to rise.   Richard Fyffe, Head of Collection Services
at the University of Conneticut will speak on the relationship of
librarians and faculty and the relationship of faculty and publishers in
the information marketplace.  Rick Johnson, SPARC Enterprise Director,
will speak about the role that SPARC is playing in the information
marketplace for libraries and publishers.

A business meeting will be conducted at the conclusion of the discussion.
