CATALOGER, NEW YORK UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL LIBRARY, SEARCH EXTENDED

Description:  Reporting to the Head of Cataloging, this librarian will
catalog and classify legal and law-related materials in a variety of
languages and in all formats, including electronic and internet resources,
with an emphasis on serials and on original cataloging, using LC
classification.  Maintain authority control.  Participate in reclassifying
to LC the parts of the collection not yet done and in implementing new LC
schedules for international law.  Assist in maintaining cataloging
workflow, establishing cataloging procedures, and with staff training and
supervision.

Qualifications:  Bachelors degree and ALA-accredited MLS.  Thorough
knowledge of AACR2, LC classification and subject headings, MARC formats.
Preferred:  One year cataloging experience using RLIN; experience with
Innovative Interfaces or other major online local library system;
experience with Windows and WWW; reading knowledge of German or a romance
language is highly desirable.  Organizational skills and potential for
further development; ability to work both independently and as a team
member, and to communicate effectively with individuals and groups.
Competitive salary depending on qualifications.  This opening may be on
